Why a rug shop, not a carpet truck
It comes up a lot in Wellington, where most homes run tile through the main rooms with a good hand-knotted rug anchoring the great room or the dining table.
The reason is what a rug actually is. Wall-to-wall carpet is glued and stretched to the slab, made to be scrubbed in place. A hand-knotted rug is a loose textile — wool or silk pile knotted onto a cotton foundation, colored with dyes that were never built to sit under a hot extraction wand.
Run a steam wand over a fine rug on the lanai and three things go wrong without a sound: the grit stays locked in the foundation, the dyes can creep, and the rug dries slow in our humidity — which is exactly how browning and mildew get started along the western edge of the county.
A rug worth thousands deserves a bath, not a scrub-down on the patio.
So we do it the old way, back at our own plant: measured, tested, dusted, washed with a natural pH shampoo, and speed-dried in a controlled room. Wool, silk, antique, Navajo, shag — the full process is laid out here.
And when a rug honestly doesn’t need the plant — a newer synthetic that’s safe to clean on site — we’ll say so and save you the spend.
Wool, silk & everything hand-knotted
Different fibers and dyes want different handling — that’s the whole reason we test first. Every rug below gets the full in-plant treatment: measured, pH and dye tested, dusted, washed, and speed-dried.
Hand-knotted Orientals are textiles, not carpet. They earn a proper submerged bath at the plant — never a hot wand on the patio in the Florida sun.
See the process →Older vegetable-dyed Persians can bleed. We towel-test each one for dye stability and adjust the wash for any rug that’s a bleed risk.
How we test →Wool is a protein fiber — high-alkaline carpet chemistry leaves it dull and brittle. Our shampoo stays in the gentle pH range wool was made for.
See the wash →Delicate silks get a lighter hand, softer tools, and the same controlled speed-dry that keeps their sheen and their colors sharp.
See the process →Washing an antique is closer to textile conservation than cleaning. If a wash would take more than it gives, we tell you before you spend a dollar.
Restoration too →Navajo and flatwoven pieces are dye-tested before any water reaches them, then washed and dried quickly so the bold color blocks stay put.
See the process →Deep dusting matters most on shag — sand and grit hide at the base of that long pile, and it all has to come out before the wash.
Why dusting first →One-of-a-kind and custom handmade rugs are washed to match their construction, with cut-to-fit pads to protect them once they’re home.

We measure the rug, note wear, spots and any repair needs, then run pH and dye-stability tests. You get the exact price before anything else happens.
Pounds of dry grit hide below the pile — and between horse country and the wind off the Everglades, Wellington rugs carry plenty. We beat and vacuum it out before any water.
A full wet wash with natural pH shampoo, matched to the fiber and the dyes. Gentle on wool and silk, thorough on ground-in soil and traffic lanes.
Into our temperature and humidity controlled drying room. Fast, even drying is what keeps humid-climate colors from bleeding into one another.
Pile brushed, fringe combed, a final inspection — then back to your door. Pickup and delivery are free across Palm Beach County.
Pricing, the honest way
Because two rugs the same size can be two completely different jobs.
A machine-made 8×10 in good shape is a straightforward wash. The same-size hand-knotted rug with unstable dyes, a decade of grit and a pet accident in one corner is another job entirely.
Wondering what actually moves the number? Measured size, the fiber and how it’s built, whether the dyes hold, how much horse-country grit and soil has worked into the pile, any pet contamination, and whether the fringe or edges have worn through.
So we inspect first, then quote — once, in writing, before we start.
The pre-inspection is free, and the number we give you after we collect the rug is the number on the invoice. No coupons, no phone-quote games, no surprise at delivery.
Done by hand, in-house
Wear we catch at inspection gets a straight recommendation: fix it, leave it, or — if the repair would cost more than the rug is worth — skip it. Every repair is done by hand, by us, never shipped out. See the repair work →
Wellington’s rug plant since 2006
We’re a family business, not a franchise call center. When you phone, you reach the people who will actually handle your rug — before, during and after the job — and the same hands wash it, dry it and repair it under one roof.
Nothing gets subcontracted and nothing leaves the county. Most of our work comes from Wellington families we’ve looked after for years, and the neighbors they send our way.
No surprises
We collect the rug, measure it, inspect it and run the pH and dye tests first. You get the exact price in writing before any work begins.
Your rug is cleaned in-plant by our own team — never subcontracted, never trucked out of Palm Beach County.
Most rugs are home in about a week. If hand repairs add time, you hear it at the inspection — not on delivery day.

Our bench, our work
Straight answers
Every rug we collect in Wellington is washed at our own plant by our own hands. Nothing is subcontracted and nothing is trucked out of the county. We pick the rug up from your home, inspect and price it, wash and dry it in-plant, then deliver it back to you — start to finish, one family business.
We collect and deliver free across all of Wellington — Olympia, Versailles, Binks Forest, Isles at Wellington, Grand Isles, Palm Beach Polo, Greenview Shores, the Aero Club and the Equestrian Preserve — plus neighboring Royal Palm Beach, Loxahatchee, Greenacres and Lake Worth. We are pickup and delivery only; there is nothing to drop off.
We test before we wash. Each rug gets a pre-inspection with a pH check and a dye-stability test, because some older vegetable-dyed rugs bleed if they meet water the wrong way. If yours is a bleed risk we change the process, and we show you what we found before any cleaning begins.
We price after we inspect, never before. Size, fiber, construction, dye stability, pet contamination and any repairs each change what a rug truly needs, so a phone number would only be a guess. Once we have collected and examined your rug, you get the exact price in writing before any work starts.
Usually, yes. Urine dries into alkaline salts deep in a rug’s foundation, and spot-cleaning the surface never reaches them. We submerge the whole rug to dissolve and flush those salts out. Long-standing or repeated accidents can be stubborn, and we tell you honestly at inspection what result to expect. More on pet odor removal.
Yes, and it is all done by hand at our plant, never shipped away. That covers fringe repair and replacement, side and edge overcasting, hole reweaving, moth damage, dry rot and full resizing or restoration. If a repair would cost more than the rug is worth, we will tell you plainly.
Most rugs are back in about a week. Washing is followed by controlled speed drying in a temperature and humidity managed room, which matters in Wellington, where high humidity makes air-drying slow and risky for color bleed. Rugs that also need hand repairs take a little longer, and you hear that timeline up front.
